Sheri Staudinger, SFCC wellness coordinator, will be introducing the new Wellness club to anyone interested in fitness, eating healthy, or going more green.
The Wellness club will be introducing free wellness programs available to all students. It will bring and develop current wellness ideas and events to the students.
“If we were healthy today, we might get to see tomorrow,” Staudinger said. “Be as best as you can be.”
If created, the club will meet weekly and also will be meeting once a month to discuss and bring new wellness ideas to the student body and staff.
“The club is more of a voice,” Staudinger said. “We are a more educated society in wellness.”
Staudinger said she is investigating other schools that have different wellness prgrams than SFCC to improve the foundation of the club and make the it truly active.
“I would love to be in a wellness club, I think that’s a great idea to have one,” said Ryan Anderson, an SFCC student majoring in Physical Education.
The free medical clinic at SCC is open to SFCC students.
Staudinger plans on having a booth a few times a month to take the blood pressure for students and staff. Being aware of blood pressure can tell whether a student is healthy, unhealthy, needs to consume less sugar, and more.
The wellness club will also be coming up with new ideas for the wellness challenge. The Fall wellness challenge currently underway with more than 70 challenges. Students who complete 60 of the wellness changes by Nov. 9 will be rewarded with a t-shirt.
