Faculty member leaves lasting legacy
An SFCC faculty member died on July 11. Mary Ann Sanger, Management Department Chair died of cancer, according to a district-wide e-mail from SFCC President Mark Palek. SFCC Associated Students President Sheena Thompson took several classes from Sanger since 2007. She said Sanger always had time for students no matter how busy she was. Sanger taught fashion merchandising, retail management and business courses at SFCC for the last 27 years "There's no one, ever, who could replace her," Thompson said. Sanger profoundly impacted Thompson's life, she said. "I learned how to be a confident person just by being around her," Thompson said. "I honestly don't think I would be who I am today without her." Sanger was an extraordinary person, according to Thompson. "From day one she was very energetic and vibrant," Thompson said. According to Palek's e-mail, a scholarship was recently established in her name through the CCS Foundation. This will help fund work study students for the Business Math Center, according to the e-mail. |
