| Smart phones: new addiction on campus |
Sarah Radmer | Let it beBefore purchasing my Blackberry Tour, I used my cell phone for texting and the occasional phone call. Now that I am the proud owner of a smart phone, obsessed is putting it lightly. I find myself checking my email at all hours of the night and updating my Facebook status during class. As of yet, this ‘crackberry’ addiction has not negatively affected my grades, but I have wasted a lot of my time with my face buried in its tiny screen, something I never would have done before. There is a reason the blackberry is so addictive, it is like a mini personal laptop that can fit into your pocket. There are so many applications and downloads for entertainment and use. Despite that, or maybe because of all these fun and useful smart phone applications, I am addicted. I find myself checking my email at 3 a.m. and logging on to Facebook during dinner out with my family. My goal now is to not waste time on my blackberry as much as I do. The last thing I want to be is one of to be a complete blackberry addict, with sore thumbs and a lack of a social life. However I doubt that will be successful. So for now: “My name is Sarah and I am a blackberry addict.” |
